Kaizen Tournament: since 2011
The Kaizen Tournament has been a regular fixture on the competition calendar for many national and international judoka since 2011. Every year, at Whitsun, more than 900 judoka young and old make their way to Echt in Limburg, to spend three days testing themselves to their limits and competing – in their age and weight class – for a place on the podium.
From its very first year, the Kaizen Tournament has drawn lots of participants from outside the Netherlands. Over the last ten years, we have welcomed more than 15 different nationalities, including judoka from Germany, the UK, Switzerland, France, and Israel. This is proof that, over the course of a decade, the Kaizen Tournament Committee, in partnership with JC Hercules, has established something great.
And this year for the first time: the Mini Kaizen tournament
You are warmly invited to attend the 10th edition of this exciting and, above all, friendly sporting event, on 4, 5 and 6 June 2022. Admission on Saturday and Sunday is € 5,00 for visitors aged 12 and over and €2.00 for visitors aged under 12.
The club behind Kaizen: JC Hercules Pey-Echt
The Japanese word ‘Kaizen’ means improvement and changing for the better. JC Hercules fully embraces this philosophy. Since it was established way back in 1949 (!), Limburg's oldest judo club has been working to get better, stronger, and bigger.
This approach is proving successful, both locally and regionally, and at the national and international level. That's why JC Hercules has been designated by the JBN as a sub-location of the Regional Training Centre (RTC) Southeast, a place where talented judoka from the region can hone their skills in the sport of judo. From 2020 onwards, this venue will be right alongside Sporthal In de Bandert, where a brand new dojo and training centre is being built.
JC Hercules is a thriving judo club, with over 300 members. The trophy cabinet is stuffed with prestigious national and international titles, in all age categories, including various national contests and podium places at European and world championships. Last year, during its own Kaizen Tournament, JC Hercules won the Dutch Mixed Teams Seniors Championship trophy.
